FPSThailand and AfreecaTV to host VALORANT Challengers Thailand 2024

FPSThailand and AfreecaTV have been appointed as the organizers of the 2024 VALORANT Challengers Thailand, replacing ESL.

THAILAND – FPSThailand has announced that it will be the host of the 2024 VALORANT Challengers Thailand circuit, in collaboration with South Korean live streaming service AfreecaTV. This marks the inaugural occasion for FPSThailand to secure the rights to host the official circuit in the country, as ESL had exclusively organized it since First Strike in 2020.

However, whether the competition will be exclusively streamed on AfreecaTV remains in question, as FPSThailand has mentioned that the decision is still pending at the time of publication.

FPSThailand holds a major position and stands as one of the largest communities within the Thai esports scene. It has a history of organizing numerous domestic tournaments across the country for popular first-person shooter titles such as VALORANT, PUBG, and Counter-Strike in the past, aligning with its name. In addition, FPSThailand also manages the Arena+ Stadium, a multipurpose space located in Bangkok that has consistently hosted competitions and qualifiers in the past.

Meanwhile, AfreecaTV, a South Korea-based video streaming service, has established a significant presence in the esports scene. It has hosted a multitude of tournaments for games like StarCraft, League of Legends, Hearthstone, and more recently, VALORANT through its AfreecaTV VALORANT League, which saw Sentinels triumph over Paper Rex just last month.

At the conclusion of the Challengers Thailand circuit, the top-performing team will join the other sub-regional teams for Ascension Pacific to determine the team that earns a temporary promotion into the VCT Pacific League for the subsequent two seasons.

More information about the upcoming Challengers Thailand circuit will be revealed over the course of the coming days.
