Four rangers, 2 villagers injured by Yala bomb

YALA: Four ranger volunteers and two civilians were injured when a roadside bomb exploded in front of a school in Bannang Sata district on Thursday morning.

The bomb was detonated outside Ban Taopoon School at Ngor Kapo village about 11.25am, said Pol Col Sayutee Katae, chief of Bannang Sata police. 

It went off as an armoured patrol vehicle carrying eight rangers and volunteers drove past the school.  

The four volunteers in the vehicle were injured – Chartchai Nanthakornpreecha, Phutthipong Khongdaeng, Komin Saraphee and Jarawat Jumpalee – along with two civilian bystanders. All were rushed to Bannang Sata Hospital.

Police blamed separatist militants.
