Prof. Dr. Natthapoj Warit, Department of Biology Faculty of Science Chulalongkorn University Discovered the Himalayan royal bee or ApislaboriosaSmith, 1871, on the high cliffs of Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province in 2022 and analyzed the data to obtain precise information about the Himalayan royal bee. The Himalayan royal bee is another type of royal bee besides the general royal bee or Apis dorsataFabricius,1793. that we can see in every region of Thailand By building a large nest into a single perch. The main distinguishing feature of the Himalayan royal bee is the abdominal segments that are usually completely black. and the fur around the chest area is golden yellow. Himalayan royal bees can be found in mountainous areas from 1,000-4,500+ meters above sea level and in cool areas. It is also an important and specific pollinator for plant communities in high ecosystems.

Moreover, it is well known in the world of beekeepers and bee students around the world that Honey obtained from Himalayan royal bees. It has physical and chemical properties that are different from honey from general royal bees and other types of bees in nature. and is in high demand in the market However, this information needs to be further studied from the Himalayan royal bees found in Thailand. This Himalayan royal bee found is considered the fifth type of nectar-giving bee in the genus Apis in Thailand, from what was previously only reported. 4 types: royal bees (Apis dorsata), sweet bees (Apis florea), black bees (Apis andreniformis) and hollow bees (Apiscerana), which does not include bee species.
