Finnish SISU helps restauranteur cope with pandemic in Thailand

Khanom continues to slowly edge its way onto the ‘map’ for local and expat tourists in Thailand. There used to be a time when only the brave and foolish stumbled upon this one-horse town. And the one ‘horse’ watering hole and eatery that drew hippie teachers and unsuspecting travellers to the jungle and seaside was none other than chef Mikko Vuori’s aptly-named Dusty Gecko restaurant.

Now, tourists come in droves to see the rare pink dolphins that swim the waters of the gulf beside the village, and to take in the beautiful views from the surrounding mountaintops; cautiously visiting ancient temples with ethereal stalactites hanging from dark ceilings, where bats sleep soundly during the day.
