A Finnish expat was found dead with his throat cut in Thailand’s Chon Buri province this morning. His Thai wife, 49 year old Aranya Srisaeng, told police that she was the first person to find the body of her husband, 57 year old Markku Tapanni Karjalainen. His death was reported at 8.30am.

Karjalainen had lived with Aranya in a single-storey house in the Bang Saray sub-district of Sattahip district.

According to Aranya’s statements, she and Karjalainen had been living together for five years without registering their marriage. Her husband had returned to Finland for a few years, but he came back about nine months ago and decided to buy a house.

This morning, Karjalainen had woken up at around 6am, and Aranya had made him coffee and oatmeal while he smoked and watched TV as usual, The Pattaya News reported. Aranya then left to take her relative to school.
