Find serviced apartment online or in person?

In Chiang Mai I typically just walk around and ask at the juristic person office of condo buildings to see available apartments. Can always hook up a nice place quickly for less than 20k and move in within a day or maximum two days.

I’ve never done that in Bangkok before but does it work pretty much the same way? For condos and serviced apartments?

Would I be best to just walk around a neighborhood I’m interested in (Sathorn, Ekkamai, Phra Khanong) or better to search online?

Looking to spend 20k or less per month and stay one or two months.
