Famous felons to be released
Corrections: Two high-profile inmates, former senator Sukhum Cherdchuen and newsman Sorrayuth Suthassanachinda, will be released from prison this weekend after being granted parole.
Sukhum will walk out of Klongprem Central Prison today after spending 17 years and three months behind bars for ordering the killing of a doctor in 1996.
The Supreme Court handed him the death sentence which was commuted to 22 years. He had five years left to serve, but was granted early release and is required to wear an Electronic Monitoring (EM) bracelet while on probation.
Sorrayuth, sentenced to eight years in January 2020 in an advertising revenue embezzlement case, will be released tomorrow from Bangkok Remand Prison and is also required to wear an EM bracelet.
