Facebook is preparing to split into two ‘Home’ feeds, suggesting featured content similar to TikTok ‘Feeds’ friends’ posts sorted by time.

Facebook announces major changes to its feed page The main feed that presents posts-content is divided into 2 tabs.

  1. The (nearly new) Home tab, where Facebook’s algorithm “Discovery Engine for you” delivers content just for us. Based on interests and likes, including Posts, Reels, Stories (similar to TikTok)
  2. The Feeds tab presents the content or posts from friends, family, Pages we follow in chronological order (by posting time regardless of popularity) with users to filter sub-categories. Also, for example, view only your friends’ posts, Groups, and Followed Pages.

It’s Facebook’s first change to the News Feed since adjusting its algorithm in 2011, and it’s become the standard for today’s feeds.

Analysts think that for years Facebook and Instagram have been copying popular features of rival platforms rather than innovating their own, Instagram Reels, until recently, feeds similar to TikTok.

Parent company Meta is trying to fend off intense competition from TikTok, which has slowed its earnings growth. Amid the transition, futuristic companies focus on ‘metaverse’ instead of social media.

This change is expected to begin rolling out globally next week.
