Chuwit Kamolvisit, a former politician turned anti-corruption crusader, has flown to England to receive treatment for his terminal stage liver cancer.
Reports emerged that 62-year-old Chuwit and his daughter were seen at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday, November 7th, with Chuwit sitting in a wheelchair.
The former politician turned anti-corruption crusader briefly revealed to Thai media that they were leaving Thailand for England to receive medical treatment for his advanced stage cancer.
Chuwit, formerly a prominent figure in the massage parlor industry, further revealed his plans to continue to Scotland afterward to spend time with his family, without a set return date.
In August, the famous anti-corruption crusader shocked the public by revealing that he was battling with Stage 3 liver cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
Despite the doctor telling him he had eight months to live, Chuwit said he vowed to devote what time he had left to doing what he loved, which was drinking and smoking. He also remained committed to exposing political secrets for the nation’s benefit.
Chuwit’s latest exposé targeted Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin shortly after he assumed office. Srettha, a former real estate tycoon, was accused of his company’s allegedly questionable acquisition of land on Sarasin Road in Bangkok. This accusation, however, ultimately led to Srettha filing a lawsuit against Chuwit.
Chuwit has also been a prominent anti-marijuana crusader, continually attacking the policies of the Bhumjaithai party that legalised the plant and demanding, unsuccessfully, that all dispensaries were closed. He even founded an anti-marijuana centre earlier this year devoted to attempting to recriminalize the plant in Thailand, that was decriminalized in 2022.
