Ever since I was a young girl in Thailand, I’ve been tangled up in noodles

Growing up in rural Thailand, Saiphin Moore became the envy of her friends when, aged 14, she saved up enough money from growing coriander to buy a television. The catch? Her family did not have a mains electricity supply.

Thankfully, her father’s tractor came to the rescue, powering a small generator that got the set going. Moore invited her friends round to watch it — but charged them by the hour for the privilege.

Since then, she has not stopped. She is best known as the founder of Rosa’s Thai, a restaurant group with 35 outlets across the UK. She sold a majority stake in it to private equity firm TriSpan in 2018 for an undisclosed sum, though has remained actively involved with the chain.
