Escaped a potential scam

I just had a scary experience while dating in Thailand. I have been living in Bangkok for six months and have had a good dating life using apps like Tinder and Thaifriendly. I use Thaifriendly for one night stands and have met good people through this app. However, my guard was down yesterday and I started chatting with a woman on Thaifriendly who said she was looking for a one night stand and wanted to meet me. Her line profile looked good and genuine with some family pics. So I thought I give it a go. She sent me the location of a hotel (OYO 225 premier place) near Silom where she was staying. She said she was only staying here for one day since she got some business near the area and she was in some gem stones business.

My horney a*s arrived at the hotel around midnight, and I started to feel somewhat uneasy. The location was in a shady alley and I saw an African man on the phone looking suspiciously at my taxi and seemed like he was giving updates to someone. My gut told me something was wrong, there were some shady looking guys around the hotel too. The woman said in the chat that she was waiting for me in the lobby, but she wasn’t there when I arrived. She showed up only after my taxi left. She suggested we go to a 711 and said its far away from the hotel. I got suspicious since I saw many 711 on my way there and she insisted we go. I still got in her car. Then, she drove me through dark alleys with no people and avoided main roads. I was dead scared and was in shock the entire ride cause I’m damn sure someone is going to pull up before the car. Mind you this is the first time something like this was happening to me and I seriously thought to jump out of the moving car if some shit happens.

Meanwhile, the woman said she was in the gem selling business and had just met a potential customer while waiting for me in the hotel lobby. She kept asking me personal questions about where I was from, what I do, and where I live. I gave her all the fake details. We arrived at a 711, this was an alley opposite to the Hindu temple. Surprisingly, she stopped the car and said she will buy some soft drinks. I thought of staying in the 711 and call someone. But the way she was talking to staff seemed very friendly and warm and I thought I was overthinking and getting panic for no reason. I thought why would she stop the car if she was planning something. My stupid a*s got into the car once again. We arrived back at the hotel (this time, she just took the main road and we reached very fast). she gave me her keycard to the room, making her seem trustworthy. We were inside the room, and she kept on chatting with someone. She showed me her conversation with that potential customer she met at lobby and said he wants to order something in bulk. She was sitting opposite to me on the bed, not even flirtatious or friendly. I started to get bored and started walking around the room.

After some time, she said her customer wanted to meet her in the lobby and would be back in 15 minutes. About to leave, she looked at my phone which was charging and said it looked very expensive, asking about its cost, etc. I was damn sure that I was trapped in some shitty scam. With a high tone, I said I would accompany her to the lobby, but she kept insisting that I stay in the room. However, her English went from top-notch to gibberish, and she seemed to be going off-script. I grabbed my phone and started walking down the corridor. She followed me very fast, and I pressed the elevator button. Then, I told her to go first into the elevator. Once she was in, I said I changed my mind and would stay in the room. I asked her to go ahead without me. She seemed somewhat relieved and gave the keycard, and said “Please don’t lock the door.” I said, “Yes.” Once the elevator doors closed, I ran to the emergency stairs. On each floor, I looked out for anyone I might encounter and was ready to throw fists if necessary (the room was on the 3rd floor). I ran to the main road and threw the keycard in front of the alley. Luckily, a taxi was passing by, and I got the hell out of there quickly.

This is probably the scariest experience I ever had in my life and I’m very glad that I’m sitting in my comfy room right now and writing this.

Should I inform the police about this? Will there be any action from their side Or is it a regular thing in Bangkok?
