ED visa question

Genuinely asking for a friend. If someone on an Ed visa cancels it due to the need of going back home for a few months, will they become ineligible to apply again?

I’m sure any school would tolerate occasional absence. Mine did when I was going through it a few years ago, especially when I got sick, but I don’t think they’ll just let her off for 2-3 months without revoking the visa.
