According to local media outlets, Prime Minister Prauyth Chan Ocha is exposed to a defeat to the benefit of the opposition, Pheu Thai, led by the youngest daughter of the former head of government, Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, head of one of the great dynasties of this country.
Although the electoral rules favor the parties in the Government, the surveys of the last days do not grant even two digits of intention to vote for the formations.
A poll by Suan Dusit, collected by The Nation newspaper, gives Pheu Thai 41.37 percent of the intention to vote of the approximately 162,000 respondents between April 10 and 20.
Also the opposition party Advance, which proposes some of the most reformist progressive policies among all formations, ranks second with 19.32 percent support.
Against this, the current prime minister’s United Thai Nation enjoys just 8.48 percent of the support of the electorate, while the Palang Pracharath party, led by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, trails just behind with 7.49 percent.
The elections on May 14 also decide the composition of the lower house of Congress and its 500 representatives.
