COL. Dominador Matalang is the Philippine Embassy’s police attaché in Thailand. He has spearheaded the rescue of Filipinos trapped by Chinese cryptocurrency syndicates in Myanmar. He said that as of March 2022, the number of Filipinos rescued from the syndicate numbered 93.
He also said at least 150 Filipinos in Myanmar were first offered jobs in Thailand last year. They ended up being trafficked, forced to lure Caucasians on dating sites — and beaten up if they refused to do so.
Many of them saw the ads on Facebook looking for encoders, marketing staff and platform models. Some were offered jobs on Facebook by Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators. Others were former overseas Filipino workers who wanted to leave the country again…
