Do people play with fireworks even on a regular day?

I live in chiangmai and I often hear firework noises at around 7~9pm even after moving to another suburb. Are the noises really fireworks? Do people really play with fireworks that much? Ive hardly ever seen anyone firing a firework except for new year’s. Is it culture related?

Ive been more paranoia more frequently after the firework warehouse explosion in Doi Saket. I didnt use to mind the noises much but im starting to get anoyyed by these especially ones that are really close. I would open up the curtains to look and only see pitch dark.
