A disabled made a long journey on a hand-operated tricycle, from his hometown in Sukhothai province to Bangkok, to claim his disability allowance from the Comptroller Department.
Monthon Petchsang, 48, a resident of Mae Sa sub-district, Si Satchanalai district, lost both legs in a fall from the sixth floor of a building in 2014.
He started his journey about three weeks ago and had covered a distance of about 400km when he arrived in Ang Thong province. He was spotted by a voluntary rescue unit on Sunday, as he was travelling along the Asian highway. He was given a lift to the Chaiyo police station at about 11pm to rest.
A police officer asked him where he was going and was told of his plan to claim his 800-baht monthly disability allowance in Bangkok, which he received after his accident until 2020, when the payments suddenly stopped.
