Dems shed more top brass over Prinn claims

Former Democrat deputy leader Witthaya Kaewparadai resigned from the party yesterday and demanded its executive committee show political responsibility for the sexual misconduct accusations against Prinn Panitchpakdi.

He said the scandal had damaged the party’s reputation and he hoped its executives would do more to maintain high ethical standards as it was responsible for recruiting Mr Prinn, also a former deputy leader, who has resigned in the wake of the claims.

When asked if he meant the party executives should step down, the former MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat said they should consider emulating his move.

He insisted his exit was unrelated to rumours the party may not support him to run in the next election, saying he had yet to decide which party to join so the matter was not relevant.
