Top-ranked mixed doubles duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai suffered a shock early exit for a second tournament in a row when they lost in the first round of the Indonesia Open on Tuesday.
The Thais were defeated 18-21, 21-7, 20-22 by unseeded Malaysians Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie in the BWF World Tour Super 1000 event at Istora Stadium in Jakarta.
Last week, Dechapol and Sapsiree were eliminated in the first round of the Indonesia Masters at the same venue.
Elsewhere yesterday, Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan defeated China’s Han Yue 21-15, 12-21, 22-20 in the first round of the women’s singles.
