Death of singer’s girlfriend raises Mountain B toll to 19

A 23-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries Monday morning, 10 days after she was severely injured by a fire that ripped through the Mountain B nightclub southeast of the capital in Chonburi province.

The death of Arthitaya “Ice” Insiri, 23, rose the pub fire’s death toll to 19. She was among dozens initially hospitalized with injuries sustained during the Aug. 5 blaze. Her death was reported around 2:50am by her mother via Facebook.

“May you be born as my daughter in the next life,” 54-year-old Weena Insiri wrote. “My beautiful daughter.”

Arhitaya was at the club with her boyfriend, 30-year-old Chatchai “Im” Chuenkha, who had been hired to sing and died on the night of the fire.

An additional 40 people were injured in the early morning inferno when fast-moving flames spread through the nightclub.
