Dating norms?

Im an expat from India living in CNX. Iv never paid for sex or go to bars like that where you see many girls waiting on men.
I had found a really nice girl while out and about and we dated for a couple of weeks. I thought i had found my ideal match and couldn’t be happier! Especially because she expressed deep love for me very quickly. Then suddenly she broke up with me saying i wasn’t commited enough.. There was definitely a big language barrier as she didnt speak much english and Im still learning Thai.
Is this normal? What is the dating culture like here?
I know in Japan people get into short term relationship even if they only want sex as it is seen more respectable. Is it similar here?
Im sad and this sucks. Language barrier is a relationship killer. Thanks.
