November 14, Sunday: Last month, back to back cyclones—Gulab and Shaheen—swept through the North Indian Ocean, drenching the subcontinent with bountiful rains. Over the past one week, two post-monsoon low-pressure systems formed over the Bay of Bengal and resulted in incessant heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

Now, yet another low-pressure system has emerged near the central Andaman Sea. As per the forecasts, the system will concentrate into a depression by Wednesday (November 17) and intensify further. The question is, will it intensify into the fifth cyclone of the year or not?
