Culture, tradition enemies to business

PEOPLE who have businesses or who want to start businesses must not mix culture and tradition with their businesses.

The country’s SME Corporation managing director Petrus Ralda told graduants of several SME trainings in the Western Highlands Province last week.

“Our cultures and traditions are enemies to our businesses,” Mr Ralda said.

“Our businesses will break down when we use our businesses to support our cultural and traditional obligations.”

Mr Ralda said cultures and traditions like compensation payments, bride price or customary death obligations, run down our businesses when we get involved in them and use money from businesses.

“We must leave our business money aside when we deal with our cultural and traditional obligations,” he said..
