‘Covid booths’ for city election

Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul plans to appoint separate or socially distanced facilities for those infected with Covid-19 to cast their votes for Bangkok governor.

Mr Anutin said the Disease Control Department will work with the Election Commission (EC) to outline Covid-19 measures in polling stations to allow everyone to exercise their votes while ensuring they prevent Covid-19 spreading to others.

“Everyone has the right to vote. We must not close this opportunity because of their sickness or lack of vaccination,” he said.

They will likely be separate voting booths within each polling station for those with the virus, he said.

When asked if people are required to take an antigen test before going to the polling stations, Mr Anutin said these days anyone can take an ATK test by themselves anytime.
