A police officer in the northeast was abruptly transferred this morning after his wife showed off her trip aboard a Royal Thai Police helicopter in a TikTok video.
Lt. Col. Akkarapol Yeekoh, a detective at the Udon Thani Police Station, was demoted and reassigned after TikTokker @Keng_pakapawan mugged for the camera, flashed V-fingers, made duckface and all the cringeworthy selfie tropes in a brag video that appeared to show Akkarapol himself.
Udon Thani police commander Maj. Gen. Pitsanu Unhaseri said in a statement that he had set up a committee to investigate the incident in the name of “protecting the organization’s image” and “preventing damage” to the government agency. In another statement, he ordered Akkarapol be demoted and moved to an inactive post, the standard punishment for official malfeasance.
