Coach Tuchel pays price for Blues’ poor start to season

While Chelsea have clearly suffered a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign, the sacking of manager Thomas Tuchel still came as something of a shock with it being so early in the season.

It unfortunately reflects a growing trend of owners demanding immediate success after spending small fortunes.

Some will say it suggests Chelsea’s American owner Todd Boehly is guilty of a knee-jerk response and doesn’t fully understand the workings of English football.

Throwing in buckets of money to sign up new players is no guarantee of immediate success. It takes time for players to gel and six matches into the Premier League season is not enough time.

It seems to have been conveniently forgotten that under Tuchel Chelsea won the Champions League in May last year and took the club to two domestic finals.

Boehly admittedly had plenty of reasons to be unhappy.
