“Permanent Secretary of Commerce” opened the 58th meeting of the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIML), which Thailand hosted for the first time in person after COVID-19. There are representatives at the level of heads of weights and measures agencies from member countries of the International Weights and Measures Organization. (International Organization of Legal Metrology: OIML) attended the meeting, a total of 128 people from 54 countries around the world. It consists of 40 permanent member countries and 14 associate members.

This CIML meeting discussed the development of standards for weights and measures according to current technology development trends, such as DC electricity meters that will be used to measure electricity for electric vehicle chargers (EV chargers). Which will continue to increase more and more. And a charging fee is also calculated.

In addition, the meeting will discuss the use of digital technology in the development of weights and measures, such as the use of the OR Code in regulating scales. and remote inspection of weighing and measuring equipment If international standards are developed and fully implemented, it will increase the efficiency of inspection of weights and measures. and thus being able to expand the scope of work to cover more scales and measures in the future.
