Chinese Clothing Merchants Arrested in Bangkok for Alleged Heroin Smuggling to Australia

Bangkok —

Bang Sue police officers arrested 2 Chinese clothing merchants for allegedly attempting to export heroin to Australia in clothing parcels.

At 8:30 PM, on October 9th, 2023, an investigative team at Bang Sue Police Station, Bangkok, captured 2 Chinese clothing merchants who were identified as Mr. Ka Sin Chan, 28-years-old, and Mr. Chor Lung Lui, 19-years-old. The investigative team also confiscated a kilogram of heroin stashed inside disguised clothing boxes in Chatuchak Plaza, Bangkok.

The investigating police officers had previously received a report from an unidentified transportation officer that the 2 Chinese clothing merchants had asked to ship 18 clothing boxes to Australia. However, Mr. Chan and Mr. Lui acted suspiciously and hurriedly. The transportation officer then called for security to take ahold of them before reporting the incident to relevant police officers.

During the investigation, police officers found heroin stashed inside 18 boxes covered with black papers to disguise them as clothing parcels.

The investigative officers later searched the alleged suspects’ condominium in the Makkasan area and discovered 2 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The police officers will conduct further legal proceedings to hold the two suspects accountable for their crimes. The suspects had not released a statement or plea as of press time.
