China compares Xi Jinping with Mao and Deng Xiaoping
The Communist Party of China has passed a historic resolution raising President Xi Jinping to be the equivalent of Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People’s Republic of China, and Deng Xiaoping, who is regarded as the designer of modern China. With the widespread reform of the Chinese economy, they are two of the great political leaders in China’s past.
The resolution made President Xi Jinping the third person in the history of the Communist Party of China to be elevated to such a status. It was held at the sixth plenary session of the Communist Party Central Committee yesterday, attended by more than 370 political leaders.
The meeting was the last general meeting before next year’s National People’s Assembly. President Xi is expected to continue his third term as China’s president in 2018 after China lifted a ban on the number of presidents in two terms in 2018, which would allow Xi to serve as China’s leader for the rest of his life.
