Car seat as checked baggage for Thai Airways and AirAsia

We are travelling next weekend to Bangkok, and we then have two internal flights – BKK to Chiang Mai, and Chiang Mai to Hua Hin. These are with Thai Airways and AirAsia.

I had assumed that a child car seat could be checked in (as well as a stroller) for free, as with most/all Western airlines. However, neither of these airlines’ baggage allowance pages seems to comment on this, and I have spent a good 30 minutes trying to answer the question via their websites without success.

My question is – will I be able to check in a child car seat for a short domestic flight on each of these airlines (Thai Airways and AirAsia) in addition to my paid baggage allowance; and will I be charged extra to do so?

Many thanks.
