Car rental fender bender

My car rental got hit from behind while stopping at a red light. They are trying to imply we braked too hard, but really not sure the insurance rules in Thailand. We have minor, but clearly visible damage to our rear bumper and their car has hood damage. The phone numbers we were given for Hertz don’t actually lead anywhere. What’s the move now? I’m afraid when we go to drop it will be a big deal. Not sure what the other person will do or if they have recourse to pursue their claim.

UPDATE: I spent about a day with the hotel staff getting in touch with Hertz. They took my paper work and photos from the accident and deemed not my fault, no money owed. They sent email to that effect, however when I went to drop the car the guy working asked for 4000 bht. I said no and tried to show the email but the language barrier was a bit difficult. I ended up just walking away, hope that’s ok 🤷🏼‍♂️
