But in a setback to the global cannabis industry, Thailand has proposed a bill that will ban the recreational use of cannabis and impose hefty penalties on offenders.
Under the draft bill, smoking of marijuana and its use in any form for recreation in Thailand will be banned. It will instead be limited to medical and health purposes.
