Canadian considering 6 months in Thailand

Hey friends, after much debate I think I am honing in on Thailand as a place to remote work. I am in my 30s, with a wife and one kid. I was wondering to get more information from folks who are there or who have been in similar situations. Looking for something with good Air Quality and hesitant about Bangkok. Was thinking Phuket but have been reading threads on here as well. Chiang Mai was also a consideration. Debating buying vs renting for 6 months. Happy to provide more info. Much thanks :) <3
