Can Thailand’s Democrat Party survive upcoming election?

TOKYO — Thailand will hold its first general election in four years on May 14 to elect 500 members of the lower house of parliament.

As in the last election, the upcoming vote will be a contest between the pro-military Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), the largest in the ruling coalition, and the Pheu Thai party, the main opposition linked to former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
