Came to Bangkok for Medical Treatment, Looking to Switch to a Work Permit

To make a long story short, I am a US citizen and I came to Bangkok to receive medical treatment. The treatment is ongoing, and the longer I am able to stay here in Thailand, the more positive my outlook will be. The clinic where I am being treated is unable to sponsor me for a medical visa, so currently I am limited to tourists visas/visa exemption with 30-day extensions, then will have to do visa runs periodically.

Thankfully, I have recovered enough that I can consider finding a job and working while I am here in order to support myself and to get a visa that would allow me to stay for a longer period of time. I would consider teaching English if it is my best option, and I have heard that there is some level of certification needed to do so? I have looked a little bit into TEFL certifications. I have also hear that it can be difficult to get a work permit if you do not have a bachelor’s degree, which I do not. How likely would it be to get find a place that would be willing to hire me and sponsor me for a Work Permit?

I might have have opportunity to work the for clinic where I am being treated, which would be most ideal but we are unsure if that will possible at this point. I am trying to come up with a backup plan incase this option does not work out.

And if I can not get a work permit, that what other visa options are their besides tourist visas? I have heard a little about people staying for extended periods on education visas.

Some other details that might be important.: I am a native English speaker from the USA, 29 years old, currently living in the Nonthaburi district, specifically the Pak Kret area. I have conversational level Japanese and I have started picking up Thai. Most of my work experience is in the fitness industry and personal training, with lots of experience in teaching and running martial arts gyms. I have some basic skills in programming, mostly in python, but I would consider myself to be a beginner. Have also done some modeling in the past and would be open to doing it again.

If there is anything I am overlooking here, I would greatly appreciate any support and/or guidance. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
