Tourism operators are urging the government to be more active in reinvigorating the industry and curbing the Omicron wave by March, ultimately aiming for reinstatement of the Test & Go scheme.
After almost two years of stagnant liquidity, hotels had just started to gain a sturdier footing with the implementation of Test & Go last year, said Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, president of the Thai Hotels Association.
“It’s not possible to wait until cases reach zero to reopen Test & Go. As most Asian countries remain closed, the upcoming low season is likely going to be quiet if there is no mechanism to stimulate international markets,” she said.
