Cabinet nod for new B1.1bn zoo

The cabinet has approved a tied-over budget of 1.1 billion baht to build a new zoo in Pathum Thani, deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said on Tuesday.

Ms Rachada said the proposal was submitted by the Zoological Park Organisation of Thailand, a state enterprise under the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry. The zoo would be on 300 rai of land donated by His Majesty the King.

The site will be in tambon Rangsit of Thanyaburi district.

The project will be carried out in the next fiscal year, wrap up in 2027, and support ecotourism, she said.

It also honours His Majesty the King by forming a comprehensive source of knowledge covering wildlife, habitats and ecoscaping related to wildlife conservation.
