buy or rent snorkeling equipment for 6 month backpacking trip through SEA

Hello everyone,

I will soon be traveling through Southeast Asia for 6 months. I will only be traveling with a backpack (70l backpack). I’m currently wondering whether it’s worth buying a snorkeling set with goggles and snorkel in advance in my hometown (Germany – around 45 EURO) or whether I should rent them locally.

As I will probably be snorkeling a lot during the 6 months, I think it would definitely be worth it in terms of money, but I always have to carry the equipment with me.

Maybe someone has been in this situation themselves and can give me some tips, or just list the pros and cons that you can think of.
