Burned Human Body Found in Forest Near Pattaya, Murder Suspected

Chonburi —

Chonburi police are actively investigating the case of a burned body found in a forest near Wat Tam Prathun in Chonburi’s Banglamung district on January 13th, 2024.

Pol. Lt. Col. Jiraphong Aeabfang, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Nongprue Police Station, received a report of the discovery around 6:00 PM. The body, located approximately 500 meters off a main road in Pong, belonged to an unidentified male between 165-170 cm tall. He exhibited signs of being burned, likely fueled by a car tire.

Mr. Supol Kamjak, a 35-year-old school janitor from a nearby school, stumbled upon the terrifying scene while following unused electrical wires and walking his dog. He immediately notified the police.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was killed elsewhere and brought to the location for burning. However, due to rain, the body was not completely incinerated.

The body has been sent for further examination at the Police Hospital to determine the victim’s identity and aid in the ongoing investigation. Officers have restricted access to the crime scene and are actively collecting evidence to expedite the case’s resolution.

As of January 14th, two important leads emerged: an ID card belonging to Mr. Thanathip Wadthaisong, a 30-year-old resident of Kalasin province, was found near the body. However, authorities are verifying if the ID belongs to the victim.

Additionally, information from local residents suggests a potential connection to a separate incident nearby. Mr. Thuy, last name held for his protection, a 53-year-old potential witness, recounted witnessing a brutal knife attack in the early hours of January 12th. He described a white sedan, heated arguments, and a person repeatedly stabbing a struggling man who attempted to flee. The attacker then dragged the victim into the car and drove away.

Mr. Thuy found a bloodstained knife afterwards and contacted the local police. However, no injured person was discovered at the time. Mr. Thuy expressed fear of retaliation and fled his home until contacted by authorities on January 13th.

Chonburi Provincial Police are actively investigating both incidents, seeking evidence to establish a possible connection.
