Buriram 11 clear after dramatic victory

Buriram United extended their Thai League 1 lead to 11 points after beating previously closest rivals Chonburi 2-0 in a drama-filled game at Chang Arena on Sunday night.

Supachai Chaided opened the scoring for the home team after 42 minutes and Goran Causic added the other from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.

After 17 games, Buriram have 45 points, 11 ahead of Bangkok United, with Chonburi dropping to third place on 33 points.

Buriram coach Masatada Ishii said he was pleased with his team’s performance as they had to play three games in one week.

The Japanese said he did not care much about how big the lead the Thunder Castle are holding.
