Brooklyn start saving on aspirin

It’s official: The Brooklyn Nets have blown up their dream team-turned-nightmare.

The Nets recently unloaded disgruntled Kyrie Irvng and malcontent Kevin Durant in deadline trades.

These moves, along with the earlier dealing of then-unhappy James Hardin, means that the team built to challenge for an NBA title never even made it out of the preliminary play-off rounds.

Instead the team slapped together with high hopes merely staggered and stumbled for three-plus seasons, never even approaching their full potential.

The ability was always there but, alas, the chemistry was not. There was always some type of turmoil emanating from the Nets.

Not even the hiring of former NBA All-Star Steve Nash as coach could get the Nets headed in the right direction.

Nash was deep-sixed midway through last season in a desperate attempt to turn the club’s fortunes around.
