British pensioner, 71, shot dead riding scooter in Thailand

A British ex-pat was shot dead as he rode his scooter in one of Thailand’s most popular beach hotspots.

The pensioner named locally as Neil Lewis Roger, who was 71 despite news reports putting his age at 70, was found by a passerby with four bullet wounds in his back in an alley in Chonburi’s popular Bang Lamung district.

His 38-year-old Thai wife Thitipan Kammalas rushed to the scene in tears after hearing he was shot at about 10.30pm on Thursday.

She told The Pattya News Mr Roger had just returned from England the day before after visiting his ill sister over the Christmas period.

Thai police are investigating several motives behind the fatal shooting including a road-rage dispute or whether Mr Roger was involved in a love triangle.
