British Club learns ‘exotic pets’ not very appealing to Bangkok

An Anglo social club canceled plans to feature “exotic pets” at an annual event after complaints that it was promoting animal exploitation.

The British Club Bangkok last night said it had removed animal-oriented events involving “exotic pets” and a “birds show” from its Living in Bangkok event to be held this coming weekend.

“We have listened to all and feedback and have [taken] the decision to replace the animal activities at the trade show with Kids games and digital entertainment,” it said on social media.

In its original announcement promoting the 23rd annual Living in Bangkok gathering, the club listed “exotic pets” and as a “hightlight” of the event, as well as “birds show.” It included photographs of a snake and a baby lion, presumably as examples of said exotic pets alongside a list of “venders” which included a vegan…
