Bike Tour at Bang Krachao: Exploring Bangkok’s Hidden Jungle Oasis

10.00 am meet at National Stadium BTS station exit 4: 2nd floor, MBK Center (bridge)
Take the bus to Wat Khlong Toey Nok temple and across the Chao Phraya river to Bang Krachao island
Bang Krachao island is a green oasis in the heart of Bangkok. Bang Krachao is commonly referred to as the Green Lung of Bangkok, as the huge amount of trees eats up the city’s air pollution. There are thousands of mangrove trees around the perimeter of the island and lots of jungle in the island’s interior where you will find the Bang Krachao Treehouse. Locals will use motorbikes on the island, but bicycles are more than fine for exploring and can be rented from near the pier for only 100 baht a day.
Visit Bang Krachao is complete with taking in Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Gardens. There’s an abundance of natural features to enjoy here, from pretty flowers to scenic water features such as ponds and lakes, that provide a taste of what one could expect from Thailand’s amazing national parks. Such an environment leads to a wealth of local wildlife too, with fish food available that will lead to a frenzy in the water should you decide to feed them. Its quaint walkways are perfect for romantic souls, and the various viewpoints provide a pretty place to recover from all that cycling.
Visit Bang Nam Pheung floating market. There are a scattering of restaurants located in the area, as well as a floating market. Bang Nam Pheung floating market comes with a sense of authenticity and “real” Thailand that can be lacking at similar places in Bangkok. It is also fairly priced.
Visit Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok. Located near the banks of the Chao Phraya River, this is one of the numerous old temples located in Bang Kachao. Its old chapel and ordination hall are definitely worth a visit.
Dinner at Baanlungau Coffee&Restaurant, a restaurant along the Chao Phraya River. A very good atmosphere especially during the night, the shop has live music as well. There are many food menus at the restaurant and delicious tastes. Tel. 09-9025-2222
