I am going to Chiang Mai in early May. I was wondering if I could get some clarity on the best elephant sanctuary to visit, where there’s a reasonable balance between the visitor and the animal welfare. Obviously, the welfare of the animal comes first, and we are not looking to ride the animals or do anything that affects them negatively. But, if *possible*, i would like to be able to get close.
If there are relly no ethical ways to interact with the elephants, I am open to hearing that. Their well being is most important to me.
