The Bank of Thailand’s Monetary Policy Committee decided on Wednesday to keep the policy rate on hold at 0.5%.
The committee members voted 4-2 in favour of the decision.
In June they had unanimously agreed to keep the rate unchanged.
BoT assistant governor Titanun Mallikamas, who is the MPC secretary, said the committee was concerned about the economic impact of the coronavirus epidemic, which would continue to damage the economy and more risk was expected in future.
But four committee members were of the view that financial measures were key to aiding those affected by the pandemic, the assistant governor said.
