Bangkok’s malls and events venues can now serve alcohol until 11pm

Bangkok can drink and be merry until 11pm at additional locations including hotels and shopping malls after public health measures were further relaxed today.

Gov. Asawin Kwanmuang last night signed new rules allowing hotels, markets, shopping malls and convention centers to serve alcohol for another two hours until 11pm, as long as they have so-called SHA health certification.

The move comes a week after Thailand announced plans to reclassify the ongoing pandemic as an endemic disease as soon as July, so long conditions met a four-month forecast laid out by the National Communicable Disease Committee.

Health officials remain optimistic that COVID infections will gradually decline through the coming months until May, with daily cases expected to fall below 2,000 by June.
