Hi, so my girlfriend has been offered a job at an international school in both Bangkok and Koh Samui. We are both 25.
The one in Bangkok is 80000thb and Koh Samui is 60K. I am going to try and get an education visa, if not do visa runs. Im hoping to keep my current job which is around 110000 thb.
We need to make a decision by the end of the week but we keep changing our mind about which one we want to do.
Pros of Bankok:
– Better pay
– Cheaper accommodation
– More opportunity to travel from BK airport
– More things to do
– Better expat community (Possibly?)
– We can save more money
Cons of Bangkok
– School is a bit out from the main area in BK
– We feel it might be a bit too chaotic as we’ve never lived in a city before
– Air pollution
Pros of Koh Samui
– We can get accommodation in Chewang or fisherman village which is right by the school.
– By the beach
– Seems to be quite a chill island from research
– Football pitch right beside us :D
Cons of KS
– Less pay
– Cant travel as easily to other places (KS Airport prices)
– Would it get boring? We aren’t big drinkers so not sure if this would be the case
Im sure there are others we have discussed but they are off the top of my head. Would anyone who has live/been to both be able to provide some input here? We’re really unsure and dont want to make the wrong decision.
Any advice would be appreciated.
PS. If anyone can recommend a good source to read about education visa and how to actually get one it would be appreciated.
