However, if you see the average player practising, where are they? Most likely they’re on the range smashing away with the driver. If you ask the average golfer what percentage of their practice time is spent on the short game in comparison to hitting the longer shots, they’ll probably say around 10-20%. But this is a white lie. The average golfer will devote only 15 minutes to stroking a few putts, if there’s time, before heading off to the 1st tee, that’s about it for the short-game practice.
