Bangkok Post – Porsche Thailand Celebrates Classic Car Legacy

Porsche experts Alexander Fabig and Peter Rohwer discuss iconic models and the brand’s enduring heritage in a special Bangkok event.

Porsche Thailand by AAS Group, the sole authorised distributor and importer of Porsche cars in Thailand, recently welcomed a renowned classic car expert from Porsche Germany, Mr. Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualisation and Classic at Porsche, to retrace the glorious history of the iconic brand. Mr. Peter Rohwer, the Managing Director of Porsche Thailand by AAS Group, proudly hosted the occasion and engaged in conversation with Mr. Fabig, who passionately shared his extensive knowledge and experience in classic Porsche cars. The discussion revolved around various models, including the Porsche Diesel tractors, the Porsche 356 PRE-A model from 1954, the 911 Carrera RS 3 litre from 1974, the 911 Turbo Flat nose from 1987, and several exclusive limited-edition models, such as the 911 Carrera GTS, which was exclusively produced to commemorate the 30TH anniversary of Porsche Thailand.

Porsche Thailand has been appointed the world’s inaugural Porsche Classic Partner, a testament to its unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of excellence in caring for classic cars through the expertise of its skilled technicians, who have international gold medal standards.

During the tour, Mr. Peter Rohwer and Mr. Alexander Fabig had the opportunity to explore a range of classic cars, starting with a Porsche Diesel tractor. This tractor is a tribute to the history of agriculture, when tractors replaced horses for farm work. It was designed to perform various tasks, including grass cutting. It can also add multiple accessories, such as sawing for saw firewood. With 130,000 units manufactured worldwide, it has become a highly desired collector’s item among collectors.

Mr. Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualisation and Classic at Porsche, stated that the 1954 Porsche 356 PRE-A model is like the first chapter in the Porsche legacy. The restoration of this classic car requires exceptional expertise and attention to return it to its original condition. The skilled artisans at Porsche Classic Partner Thailand possess extensive knowledge and capability to undertake the restoration process, which involves rebuilding various components such as the fenders, front hood, and doors.

The 1974 3-litre 911 Carrera RS is a highly collectable car for those who value power and speed. With a total of only 56 units produced worldwide, this rare vehicle boasts an impressive engine power of up to 240 horsepower while weighing only 1,040 kilogrammes. It is widely regarded as one of the rarest and most exceptional automobiles in existence. Another exceptional vehicle is the 1987 911 Turbo Flat Nose from Porsche Sonderwunsch. This handmade car is incredibly unique and challenging to locate, even surprising Mr. Alexander Fabig. It is one of the earliest creations of Werk 1, which was constructed in an old brick building, and is considered an extremely rare find. Finally, Porsche Thailand has recently launched a unique model to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The model, comprising only 30 cars, is distinctive in appearance and features exclusive colours and details. This model showcases seven paint-to-sample colours, each representing a day of the week as per Thai culture. Additionally, the 30th-anniversary logo is embroidered on the headrests, and the door entry guards bear the message ‘911 Carrera GTS.’ The trunk lid of the engine compartment features the Thai flag colours, which symbolise appreciation for Thai culture. The model is one of a kind, and there will never be another one built.

Mr. Peter Rohwer, the Managing Director of Porsche Thailand by AAS Group, expressed his pride in being the world’s first Porsche Classic Partner Center. He emphasised that their technicians have significant expertise and skill for every classic car by restoring it to its original, like-new condition. In addition, he affirmed the Center’s steadfast commitment to fulfilling their customers’ aspirations and cultivating their passion for the Porsche brand. Furthermore, they are delighted to announce the opening of three additional Porsche Centers, with the first set to launch later this year. This expansion will enable their customers to realise their dreams truly. As always, their motto remains, “You dream it, we build it, you drive it, and you possess it.”
