Bangkok goes mask-free outside and drinks until 2am after July 1

Walk down the street unmasked and drink until 2am at licensed entertainment venues – in about two more weeks.

On July 1, according to new mandates announced today by the COVID-19 task force, entertainment venues may open until 2am and, soon thereafter, people may walk freely without masks.

However, masks will still be required indoors and in crowded places such as concert venues with more than 2,000 people in attendance.

Hotels are also able to resume alcohol sales from 2pm-5pm.

In addition to the new mandates, foreign nationals will no longer need a Thailand Pass to travel to Thailand. They will only need proof of vaccination or negative results from any COVID-19 test (PCR or ATK).

The updated mask regulations will come into effect when they are published in the Royal Gazette, which could come some time after July 1.
